Plans for eight high-quality new homes in Swainby were revealed to local people at a public engagement event on 5th March 2020. The new homes will be constructed on the site of the former Swainby and Potto Primary School on Claver Close and have been sensitively designed to complement existing homes in the village.
The homes will be built to high environmental standards, designed to be in keeping with the style of existing homes within the village and in accordance with the Local Planning Authority’s design standards. Landscaping is planned to help enhance the setting, including new trees and hedgerows.
Our plans also include a small community car park, which we believe would make an important contribution to the local economy and community.
The school has been closed since the end of 2017 and these proposals represent an excellent opportunity to breathe new life into the site, which is currently detracting from the character of the village and could also become a potential hazard with the associated risks of leaving a building empty.
The scheme will be amended in line with feedback received through the public engagement and a planning application will be compiled for submission in Summer 2020.
